Shotley 24 FAQs

If we enter as a team, can we run together? No, only 1 person on each team can run at any 1 time. If you wish to run together, we would suggest signing up as solo or, if you were looking at a team of 6, enter as 2 teams of 3.

How long do I have to complete a lap?

Take as long as you like, this format is not the same as a Backyard Ultra. Take your time, enjoy the views. Run or walk, the choice is yours!

Can my family come and camp with me? Sadly, not this time. In the future we may look at family camping, however for the first year we are focusing on the runners getting the best experience as you have paid for this event.

Will the course be marked? Yes, the route will have red and white tape out and arrows. When it becomes dark, there will be glow sticks and lights where possible to keep the course route obvious.

Do I have to pay for Yoga or Pilates? No, these are included in the cost of your entry

I am running as solo, do I need to bring a tent? No, we also have inside space at Shotley Village Hall, you are welcome to drop your belongings off and have the hall as a base. However, we are not responsible for looking after anything you leave in the hall.

What time can I arrive? Please do not arrive to set up camp before 9am on the Saturday. No cars, other than those with tent boxes on the roof will be allowed on the campsite. Please be able to carry your belongings with you from parking to camp.

Where is parking? We will be using on street parking, there is a small car park, but we want to keep moving vehicles to a minimum to ensure the safety of everyone. There is ample off- road parking in the area. However, as always, please car share where possible to minimise disruption.

Will there be food available? We have reached out to various companies asking if they would like to attend and will update once confirmed. Can I cook on the campsite? Please only cook on BBQ’s that are not sitting on the ground. No open fires, no fire pits. The Rose pub will be open for you to book a table

Are there showers? No, we do not have shower facilities over the weekend.

Are there toilets? Yes, in the village hall there are toilet facilities. The campsite also has 2 toilets.

Can I stay camping after the event? Please speak to Sarah at The Rose pub if you wish to stay for the Sunday night after the event.

Do I have to keep running for the whole event? No, this is a 24 relay for you to enjoy, if you run a few laps and then wish to sleep overnight and begin again in the morning, then that is absolutely fine!

Is there electric hook up? No, there is no electric hook up on the campsite.

Can my running club all camp together? Absolutely! Closer to the time we will reach out and ask clubs if they would like to camp together to set up your club flags.

Can we add gazebos? We will address closer to the time depending on bookings. A gazebo for a whole club will be accepted, but not a gazebo for each entry. We will check the weather in advance to advise if shade will be needed.
