The Route in brief
Starting outside Landguard Fort, the route begins on road while joining the King Charles III Footpath. You will cross the railway lines on the Port of Felixstowe which then brings you onto the trails as you pass through Trimley marshes nature reserve and the banks of the river Orwell.
The trail then leads you to Falkenham via 2 footbridges and the villages of Trimley and Kirton.
On reaching the banks of the river Deben, you will follow the KCIII path again to the golf course, watch out for flying balls on this section!
If you have anything left to give, then running up onto the promenade and having tarmac underneath you is the time to go for it, as 2 miles later, there is a twist of shingle and sea views before completing the 20 miles back at Landguard Nature Reserve and a return to the Fort.
Beware the sting in the tail!
